3D Virtual Try On
ROLE
UX/UI Designer
PROJECT
Collaborated with engineers on web team to increase usability of 3D virtual try on experience across web and mobile. Our fashion brand partners utilized this tool in their e-commerce stores to enable customers to digitally view 3D garments on their specific body shape and size to find their perfect fit.
Crafted mockups and interactive prototypes to refine flow. Also, managed and executed usability studies, then synthesized user research data & worked with engineers to implement UX/UI recommendations. Collaborated with Director of R&D to improve workflow efficiency and render quality of 3D image pipeline. Worked with VP of Engineering to build backend of CMS and test usability of CMS with internal users. Had the opportunity to create custom texturing and lighting using both Adobe CC and Unity, as well as create microinteractions in After Effects.
Learned about data-driven design, streamlined methods for usability testing, and pairing code with design to implement and test features faster. Solved usability problems, as well as unique issues of trust centered around garment fit accuracy and data privacy. To gain user trust, we introduced an additional flow that enabled users to select their measurements from a range of measurements. The original flow targets users who don't know their measurements or aren't interested in taking them, but do want to customize the avatar body shape and size to complete the flow and find the perfect garment.

OUTCOME
This app flow was amplified with the addition of AR capabilities to enable users to view and explore garment(s) in their own space to build confidence in their fit accuracy and purchasing decision. The app was live in the Apple App Store for over a year until Avametric was acquired in October 2018 and the product focus moved away from e-commerce.
