Meet Clementine the 360 camera!

I've been using the Samsung Gear 360 (2016 version) for two and a half weeks. Here's what I've learned so far:
1. It's helpful to have a compatible Samsung phone (Galaxy S6 series, Note 5, Galaxy S7 series) to change the settings, specifically the video ISO.

2. Before you start filming, look at what's around the camera and assess what you're trying to capture. Does this shot really require 360 video or would flatty (regular) video be better?

3. If you want to keep the audio, don't sit near the camera and have a conversation. Also, because there is no "back" of the camera where you can hide, you may be in your shots. This is okay in some scenarios, but make sure you blend in.

4. People will be very curious about the camera and ask you questions.

5. Post-production is a b!#@%. Make sure you have an efficient workflow to avoid the feeling of wanting to gauge your eyes out with a tripod leg. Blog post detailing my current workflow coming soon!

6. Decide what type of 360 content you're creating (photos, videos) and where it will be shared. For example, if you'll be sharing your content on Facebook, then you don't have to worry about making users sick. On the other hand, if you're submitting your content to Samsung VR or other VR platforms, you should try to move the camera as little as possible and really need to test your content in VR.

7. If you're taking photos and videos, your battery will only last ~3 hours depending on how much video you're taking and whether you turn the camera off in between shots.

8. Make sure you select the correct setting before pressing play. Also, select the setting on the camera and not the phone just in case the phone and camera get disconnected. I've already accidentally filmed videos instead of photos, shot photos instead of videos, and did video looping instead of a timelapse.

9. Monopods with tripod legs are a lifesaver and super portable. I've received some compliments on mine already, even though the legs are a bit tiny and it takes some finagling to make the camera level.

10. You will stumble into PERFECT situations for 360 content. Don't be afraid to ask people if you can film them or give them a little direction.
Experiment, explore, and have fun!
